Rome, Italy: Women’s Ordination Conference joined Catholic activists from around the world to call for the full and equal participation of women in the Roman Catholic Church, including ordination as deacons, priests and bishops. A press conference on the feast of St. Teresa of Avila launched a weeklong of events, which included daily demonstrations and leafleting at Saint Peter’s Square, an educational forum and a tour of women office holders in the early church. These events occurred as 240 delegates met for the Synod of Bishops in Rome.
